Daddy of the Blues T-Bone Walker was born on May 28, 1910 in Linden, Texas as the only son of Rance and Movelia Walker. A blend of African-American and Cherokee heritage, the Walkers lived in the Bear Creek Community near Linden.
Linden's Music City Texas Theater and the Linden Economic Development Corporation developed the T-Bone Walker Blues Fest to honor this native son who became an icon in the world of music. This is a celebration of The Blues that will bring music lovers together in this birthplace of musical giants.
Proceeds generated by the 2008 festival will be shared with the Fairview Community Center and the Music City Texas Theater. These IRS-designated 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporations are devoted to improving the quality of life of the Linden community, and enhancing the arts in Cass County.
The 2006 music festival showcased the artistry of: Keb' Mo', Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Gary "Whitey Johnson" Nicholson, Betty Lewis & the Executives, The Bluebirds, Dee Dee Williams, Diddley Squat Band, the Kesler Brothers and Coyote Blue.
In 2007 visitors enjoyed the sounds of: Gary "Whitey Johnson" Nicholson, T.
